So Good, Then… Ka-Boom

Creatives Who Tarnished Themselves

With some Creatives, it’s hard to separate the art from the artist themselves. For example, Bing Crosby was a fantastic crooner — as long as you forget that he was also a child-beater.

Kevin Spacy: great actor, and talented impressionist. Then, we learned he was a sexual predator and would-be child molester. He became a pariah.

Two more join this list, one beyond repair:

Orson Scott Card A fantastic Science Fiction author, one who won several Hugo awards. Then, he began to spew his negative views about homosexuality — sometimes out of the blue. Because of this, it’s hard to read his words, He’s ruined himself. For good

J.K. Rawlings A great success story. She lived on Welfare and earned a low wage as a waitress. Then, her Harry Potter book was a hit, leading to an entire series, movies, and stores at Disney parks… she’s now a multi-millionaire.

Recently, she came out against trans people.

So long as she doesn’t harp on it it won’t harm her. In fact, it’s not a controversial memory for most. Unlike Card, it isn’t a part of every conversation.

So, she got a facepalm too, but she’ll survive. Card… unless he changes, likely not.
