It’s Not Easy Being Green…

It’s Not My Favorite Color, But it Has Its Own Hints

First, my apologies for being away for so long. Slow blogging due to lockdown funk. Bad mix.

Back now:

My favorite color is blue.

Before Picasso gained fame he had a group of realistic paintings called his blue period. Many of my favorite records came from a studio called Blue Note. One of my favorite bands here in Canada is Blue Rodeo. One of my favorite Superheroes in the 1990s was Blue Devil.

Rhapsody in Blue (song), Blue Velvet (movie), the Blue Lanterns (comicbooks), Blue Lagoon (movie), blue M&Ms (candy), Little Boy Blue (nursery rhyme), blue jay (bird), Blue Jays (Toronto baseball team)… everywhere I turn there are reminders of this color, many of them my likes.

However green fits in with many parts of my life too:

Start with my birthstone, which is emerald. If you don’t know, that’s green.

My favorite Superhero of all time? Green Lantern. This should be no surprise if you know me. I’m an artist by study (I know better ones), so a character that can create anything in his imagination is tasty.

(Before you say it: the movie was meh. Years of story squished into one film, bad writing, bad direction. Three strikes.)

Several of the storylines:: Emerald Dawn, Emerald Twilight.

Another comicbook I like: Swamp Thing. He deals with a natural force called The Green.

Music

Green Day is an easy pick.

The songs by the Muppets, Kermit J Frog, in particular, are part of my personal zeitgeist… thus the cover image.

Maybe I should give the color more thought.
