Here’s the deets (not really a word that sounds right for a man of 57):

As I write this, it’s July 13. Camp NaNoWriMo began on July 1. I haven’t chosen an online ’bunk,’ haven’t declared my goals, and haven’t started to write for it yet. Almost half of the month is over. I should give up, right?

My sub-title states my answer: nope.

To paraphrase the theme song of the legendary poet wrestler John Cena:

The time to write? The time is now!

Why?

Camp NaNoWriMo is laid back

This is July, the midpoint of the summer — at least here in North America. Well, except Hawaii, Florida, and the Deep South. They don’t know snow. For many of us, this is the time of the year when we kick back and decompress, all synonymous with “being lazy.”

For those of us on Medium — and writers in general — we usually have nothing else to do in summertime but write more. Granted, some of us are active, and some are parents — not enough time to sleep or write.

This month is perfect for that!
